I got my scores and got an overall band of 6.5 ...
I believe I could do much better but after all I did get the band I needed, which is a 6.5 .
I did terrible in reading: 5.0
Listening : 7.5
Writing: 6.0
Speaking: 8.0
I think writing and esspecially reading pulled my grade down. I really had a hard time in reading. I was definitely upset about writing since I usually get band 7.0 . In the end, I got the band and I'm on the safe side! Not bad ey!
Thank you Tony for everything and without the courses, I don't think I would be able to get the required band!!!!!

Phew! That was close! I guessed you were a bit disappointed, hence no news until now.
Indeed nothing is guaranteed and IELTS can deal some cruel blows. I'm glad you got the overall score you needed for Australia, despite the reading and writing...
For the new class's benefit, Mona did the Academic IELTS and was always a bit concerned about the reading test for IELTS.
So, what is the answer - the secret to succeed in IELTS reading? Take your pick:
- excellent vocabulary base
- strong time management skills
- a logical, structured approach
- matching the key words that you highlighted in the questions with the appropriate passage in the text
- having read extensively beforehand
- confidence in yourself
- analysing the questions/instructions thoroughly
- 'filleting' the text for the exact information that you need and not getting distracted or panicking
It can be done!
